Welcome to the Blog!

Welcome to the WYVA Professional Development Blog! This will continue to be a place we can share our insights, questions, successes, concerns, and celebrations as together we learn how to be more effective teachers.

This year we will focus on INCREASING RIGOR while employing the techniques of Teach Like a Champion and driving our instruction by data. We'll also expand our understanding of DDI and learn new DDI strategies by reading parts of the book Driven By Data.

Feel free to post your insights, questions, experiences, concerns, wins, etc. throughout the year.  You can also consider the following:
• Identify an idea or technique that seems especially helpful to you. Explain why.
• Post questions about how to implement the ideas or strategies presented in PD.
• What techniques seem especially tailored for enhancing online instruction?
• Do you already use some of the strategies and approaches we are learning about? Tell us about it.
• After trying out a new approach to increasing rigor or implementing DDI, please share your experience. What worked? What didn't? Is there anything you will do differently next time?
• Remember that many of the strategies we discuss can apply to one-on-one as well as whole group instruction.

Of course as others add to the blog, your posts may simply be responses to what they write.

Please approach this blog as a place of support and ideas rather than a formal "assignment." Your posts are not going to be counted or analyzed for quality of content (or accuracy of grammar :-)). There is no "right" way to participate. The purpose of this forum is to enhance the growth of our staff by providing a place where we can learn collaboratively by discussing ideas, asking questions, and sharing our experiences. Hopefully we will also enjoy being able to connect with each other, across grade levels, on a regular basis and in a meaningful way.

We look forward to learning alongside you this year!
